  2. Our Story

Since 2018

It started with one cow.

We're Rhett and Sarah Fast. Faster Pastures is our family, our kids, a herd of Scottish Highlands, and the hills of Watertown, Tennessee, in Wilson County east of Nashville.

Some farms are a business. Ours is also where our kids are growing up.

The years

8 years, one season at a time.

  1. One red cow.

We bring home Brianna, our first registered Highland. Faster Pastures begins.

  2. Calves of our own.

Nancy joins the herd, and that fall Butter is born: one of the first calves registered under the Faster Pastures name.

  3. A bigger plan.

We start breeding with artificial insemination, and Dunedin arrives that December.

  4. New faces.

New heifers join the herd, and Forrest and Flash are born a couple of weeks apart in November.

  5. Four generations.

General George is born to Butter: Brianna's great-grandson, on the same pasture. In August, Flash and Forrest go to the Tennessee State Fair.

  6. 3 calves on the way.

Due this winter and spring. 6 registered heifers we've raised already live on other farms.

The farm

More than cattle.

Hands gathering eggs from a nesting box
The family with their two horses in the field
Close-up of a chestnut horse’s eye
Goats wandering out of the white barn
Trees reflected in the farm pond
The farm utility vehicle parked among the grazing herd

Come meet the family.
